Emergencies
FVVC is NOT a full-time emergency clinic or a critical care facility.
If you have a veterinary emergency and are NOT a client at any veterinary facility, then:
– for an after-hours emergency, you should contact an emergency veterinary facility (several options are listed at the bottom).
– during normal hours, you should contact whichever veterinary facility you prefer, explain your problem and see if they can help you. You may need to call several facilities to find one that can assist you.If you have a veterinary emergency and are a client at a different veterinary facility (not a current client of FVVC), then you should contact that facility (and check their website for information). If closed, their phone service/system may give you suggestions on how to get help and where to go.
If you have a veterinary emergency and are a client of FVVC, call the clinic at 315-343-4300. We are often at the clinic beyond normal scheduled hours. If we are not able to answer the phone, note the emergency number announced by the answering system and leave a message (in case we could not answer the phone in time). Then call the emergency number.
Please note that while we are not an emergency clinic, we are able to provide at least initial care for a wide variety of emergency or urgent problems. However, we cannot provided sustained critical care. Critical care may be obtained at a full-time clinic listed below or at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine Companion Animal Hospital in Ithaca at 607-253-3060.
In the event that we are not reachable, you may wish to contact an emergency veterinary facility. There are two locally available:
Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center in Baldwinsville, NY 315-638-3500
Veterinary Medical Center of CNY in Syracuse, NY 315-446-7933
